Dark circles under the eyes develop for a variety of reasons. Some of these changes are easily treatable, others not so easily changed. A combination of lasers and topical medications will, on average, reduce the color 50-75% in most patients.
The topical medications should be used for 6-8 weeks before laser treatment, and cost about $1.00 a day. Most patients need 2 laser treatments, spaced about 2 months apart. Multiple lasers can be used based on the appearance of the area.
Each session takes about 1-2 minutes and causes slight puffiness and redness lasting 1-2 days. Sometimes a slight crusting on the skin also occurs and lasts 2-3 days. Make-up can be used after treatment to cover the area. Cost of treatment is $300-500 including medications.
